Shoreline Plan EIS Alternatives Being Reviewed by TRPA.
Public Comment Encouraged.The public is invited to attend the upcoming TRPA Regional Plan Implementation Committee meeting on September 27, at 8:30 a.m. at the North Tahoe Events Center in Kings Beach to learn about and to provide comment on the proposed conceptual Shoreline Plan Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Alternatives. The meeting will take place at TRPA.
The five EIS Alternatives being considered include:
Alt. 1—Shoreline Plan (Proposed Alternative)Works to enhance the recreational experience along Lake Tahoe’s shores while protecting the environment and responsibly planning for the future.
Alt. 2—Existing TRPA Shorezone Regulations (No Project)Maintains the existing Regional Plan Shorezone Goals and Policies and the existing Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) Shorezone Code.
Alt. 3—Prioritize Access DevelopmentWorks to increase opportunities for private and boater access by increasing allowable shoreline structures.
Alt. 4—Limit New DevelopmentWorks to reduce the risk of environmental impacts by further limiting new shoreline development.
Alt. 5—Expand Public Access and Reduce Existing DevelopmentWorks to expand public access, reduce existing shoreline development, and increase restoration in order to minimize the risk of environmental harm.
The Shoreline Plan includes Policy Proposals in the following areas:
